The Gurugram Police have arrested a manager working with budget hotels network, OYO Rooms, for allegedly raping a 22-year-old woman staying at a hotel in Sector 45, PTI reported. The accused, identified as Raghav, worked in the hotel as a demand manager.

In her police complaint, the woman said she was staying at Emaar Residency with her husband for the past month after booking via OYO Rooms. On Sunday, when her husband was away, the hotel manager told her they would have to shift rooms, she said. The woman told him to wait until her husband returned, however, the manager came back again at 11.45 pm, the complainant said.

“She has claimed that she fell unconscious and, when she woke up, realised that he had sexually assaulted her,” Inspector Bijender Singh of Sector 40 police station, told The Indian Express. “The accused was arrested Wednesday. He has confessed to the crime and been remanded to judicial custody.”

OYO Rooms said Raghav has been suspended. “We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident at Emaar Residency and will continue to extend our full support to police in the probe, along with the owner of the hotel,” the company said in a statement, according to The Times of India. “Safety of guests and especially women staying with us or working with us is of paramount importance. We have a stringent zero-tolerance policy in this regard for our hotel partners as well.”

OYO Rooms said it did not own Emaar Residency, but was a partner on a franchise model.
