Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday credited South Korean President Moon Jae-in for speeding up the peace process in the Korean peninsula. “I believe that the positive environment that has been created is an effort of President Moon,” said Modi. Earlier in the day, the two countries signed four pacts during delegation level talks headed by the two leaders.

Modi said India would offer all possible cooperation in order to reduce tension in the Korean peninsula. “We have also decided to step up scale of consultation and cooperation,” he added.

The prime minister thanked South Korea for creating job opportunities in India. “Korean companies have made an identity for themselves in every household of India due to their commitment,” he observed. “South Korea’s participation in our Make in India mission has created many employment opportunities in India.”

The South Korean president said the two leaders have agreed to broaden the scope of bilateral relations. “We will make mutual summit-level visits on a regular basis,” said Moon. “I will eagerly wait for Modi’s visit to Korea in 2020 until then I hope we can continue our close communication in various multilateral summits.”

He said the two countries have agreed to expand high-level consultations. “Today, Modi and I agreed to promote cooperation for people, prosperity and peace in response to the fourth Industrial Revolution so as to create emergence of future growth envisioned by cooperation in a vigorous manner,” Moon added.

The South Korean president arrived in New Delhi on Sunday on a four-day visit to India. The following day, he inaugurated Samsung’s phone-manufacturing factory in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida, which has been dubbed the “world’s largest mobile factory”. The new facility is spread over 35 acres in Noida’s Sector 81.
