Tamil filmmaker Shankar will reunite with actor Kamal Haasan to direct the sequel to his 1996 blockbuster Indian, The Indian Express reported. Titled Indian 2, the film will be made in Tamil and Telugu and dubbed into other languages. Produced by Dil Raju, Indian 2 is reportedly being made on a budget of Rs 180 crores.

Indian chronicled a righteous freedom fighter’s turn to vigilantism to defeat corruption and his dilemma when he finds himself pitted against his bribe-taking son. Haasan played both the roles. The announcement comes at a time when Haasan is threatening to join Tamil Nadu politics and float his own party.

Shankar is currently working on the Enthiran sequel 2.0., which features Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in lead roles. 2.0 is scheduled to be released in January 2018.
