Tamil director Shankar launched Kamal Haasan starrer Indian 2 in Taiwan on with a Chinese sky lantern, indicating that the film is set to go on the floors soon. The director shared a clip of the launch on Twitter on January 26.

A sequel to Haasan’s blockbuster Indian (1996), the film will be made in Tamil and Telugu and dubbed in other languages.

Produced by AM Rathnam, Indian chronicled a righteous freedom fighter’s turn to vigilantism to defeat corruption. The film featured Haasan in a double role as a father and his corrupt son.

Indian 2 was officially announced last year in the final episode of Bigg Boss Tamil, hosted by Haasan. The movie will be bankrolled by Lyca Productions, after producer Dil Raju reportedly backed out of the project. Indian 2 will go on the floors after the release of Shankar’s Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0, a sequel to the 2010 hit Enthiran, which is slated to be in theatres on April 14, 2018. The science-fiction feature also stars Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar as the antagonist.

In a recent Twitter post, Shankar said the teaser had been held up as it was heavy on graphics.
