Riteish Deshmukh will be seen in a new Marathi film titled Mauli. Deshmukh made his Marathi debut in 2014 with Nishikant Kamat’s action drama Lai Bhaari, which went on to become the highest-grossing Marathi film of all time. Mauli, meaning mother, is also the name of the highly popular devotional song from Lai Bhaari.

“Rooted in the musical action drama genre, Mauli is one of the most ambitious films produced by us at Mumbai Film Company,” Genelia Deshmukh said in a press release. Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh’s production house, Mumbai Film Company, is bankrolling the project.

Mauli is being helmed by Aditya Sarpotdar, who had directed the Marathi hit Faster Fene (2017), also produced by Deshmukh. Faster Fene writer Kshitij Patwardhan is the screenwriter of Mauli.
