“You’ve seen the future in Futurama. You’ve seen the present in Springfield. So what’s the obvious third move? The past, of course.”

So begins the teaser for Netflix’s Disenchantment, an upcoming animated series by The Simpsons and Futurama creator Matt Greoning. Weaving in a reference to his earlier shows, the teaser announces that Groening is travelling back in time for his latest outing, to Dreamland, a fictional medieval kingdom.

The series, set to be premiered on the streaming platform August 17, will follow the lives of Bean, a princess with a drinking problem, her elfin companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci.

Bean will be voiced by Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon is Elfo and Eric Andre voices Luci. Voice actors from Groening’s past works including John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille and David Herman also join the cast. Rough Draft Studios, which animated Futurama, has also worked on Disenchantment.
