The trailer of the Gujarati remake of Rajesh Mapuskar’s National award-winning drama Ventilator was released on Friday. Directed by Umang Vyas and produced by Irada Entertainment, the Gujarati film, also titled Ventilator, features Jackie Shroff, Pratik Gandhi, Manan Desai, Ojas Rawal and Sanjay Goradia, among others. The movie will be released on September 14.
Ventilator focuses on the emotions of a community who find out that a revered family member has been put on life support just days before Navratri. It marks the Gujarati film debut of Shroff, who plays Ashutosh Gowarikar’s director character from the original production.
In March, Shroff had said that he hoped to do justice to his character in the Gujarati version. “I used to communicate in Gujarati but since my father passed away, I don’t communicate in the language as much as my childhood phase…I will try my best to speak in a correct manner in the film,” he told IANS.
Produced by Priyanka Chopra’s Purple Pebble Pictures, Mapuskar’s Ventilator (2016) was a box office hit and won three National Film Awards: Best Director, Best Editing and Best Sound Mixing.
