Two Indian passengers on a flight from Bangkok to Kolkata got into an argument that turned into a physical altercation on Tuesday, December 26.

The fight broke out on a Thai Smile Airways flight before it took off from Thailand. A video of the altercation, which has now been widely shared on social media, shows the men arguing as a flight attendant tries to intervene. The argument quickly escalated into a physical fight, with other passengers joining in.

According to an NDTV report, the assault took place after fellow fliers complained about one of the passengers as he refused to comply with the cabin crew’s safety instructions. The airline issued a statement in response to the incident, stating that “Thai Smile Airways feels sorry for this” and that it followed international safety procedures in handling the situation.

Thai Smile Airways has also submitted a flight disturbance incident report on the brawl to Indian civil aviation authorities, ANI reported.

The Director General of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Zulfiquar Hasan, stated that the regulatory body has requested for a detailed report on the incident from the relevant authority.
