Watch: Saturday Night Live aped the US President-elect. Then Donald Trump exploded
Faced with having to live up to his campaign promises, things don't bode well for the business tycoon.
President-elect Donald Trump doesn’t have to make good on his bombastic campaign promises until he takes office in January 2017. But Alec Baldwin returned to Saturday Night Live in his Trump avatar to show how horrifying it might be if the real estate tycoon actually carried out his plans.
“When we heard you had a secret plan [to defeat ISIS], it really energised us,” a general tells him.
A panicked Donald Trump rushes to his computer after the general leaves to Google “what is ISIS”, only for his eyes to widen with shock at the horror of the revelation. Trump turns to his smart phone device, “SIRI, how do I kill ISIS?” but no help comes his way. “This is a Blackberry.”
There is no respite for the President-elect.
A coal advocate walks in and says, “You came and said you were going to bring every single job back to our town! Hell, if you could build a wall that’s two thousand miles on the Mexican border, I’m sure you could help us!”
Baldwin’s Trump attempts to calm himself. “Don’t worry, Donald, you’ll be okay, Hillary is still ahead in the polls.” But things only get worse.
On twitter, @realDonaldTrump did not take too kindly too this treatment and responded in his signature style: Single clause declarative sentence, single clause declarative sentence, primary adjective/term of derision.
I watched parts of @nbcsnl Saturday Night Live last night. It is a totally one-sided, biased show - nothing funny at all. Equal time for us?

In response, Baldwin offered advice on how Trump should deal with being president.

You know what I would do if I were Prez? I'd be focused on how to improve the lives of AS MANY AMERICANS AS POSSIBLE.

I'd be focused on improving our reputation abroad, including actually fighting for freedom and not just oil.

I would make appointments that encouraged people, not generate fear and doubt.
