Delhi odd-even car formula: 6,000 buses to be added to public transport system
The addition is part of efforts to ensure the smooth implementation of the scheme for private vehicles during the January 1-15 testing period.
The Delhi government announced on Thursday that 6,000 additional buses will be deployed in the national capital to improve its public transport system, reported PTI. The decision came two days after the government announced the odd-even number plate scheme for private vehicles plying in the city. The scheme will be tested from January 1 to 15 and will be applicable from 8 am to 8 pm every day, except for Sunday.
The Delhi government will soon issue guidelines on a carpooling policy for commuters. The Delhi Dialogue Comission vice-chairman Ashish Khetan will submit a blueprint on carpooling to the government by early next week on how it can be effectively implemented, reported PTI.
