The Government Railway Police in Rajasthan booked actor Shah Rukh Khan for allegedly “rioting” and “damaging” railway property during the promotion of Raees at Kota railway station last month. A railway court has asked the GRP to file the case based on a complaint lodged by a vendor, reported PTI.

Station House Officer Ganga Sahay Sharma said Khan had been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Railway Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. The Bollywood star had boarded the August Kranti Rajdhani Express from Mumbai Central for Delhi to promote his film.

Complainant Vikram Singh has alleged that he was injured, his money was stolen and that his belongings in a trolley were damaged when Khan had arrived at the station. Singh said the actor created pandemonium when he had thrown gifts at the public while he was aboard the August Kranti Rajdhani Express on January 24. “Singh’s food cart was damaged in the chaos and he had also suffered injuries for which he had to undergo treatment,” Om Prakash, Superintendent of Police, GRP, told The Indian Express.

At Vadodara station, a man had died during the massive rush to see the actor. Around 15,000 people reportedly showed up at the station to catch a glimpse of Khan. Farid Khan Pathan had suffered a cardiac arrest at the station. Later, Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu had ordered an investigation into Pathan’s death.
