Two Border Security Force personnel were killed in a blast triggered allegedly by Maoists on Monday evening in Kanker district of Chhattisgahr’s Bastar division, ANI reported. The constables were reportedly on a motorbike when the improvised explosive device went off.

“Around 5 pm, two BSF constables succumbed to injuries after an IED blast near Tadbauli village, about seven kilometres from Marbeds camp,” said P Sundarraj, deputy inspector general, anti-Naxalite operations, according to The Times of India.

The constables were taken to a hospital after they were wounded in the blast, where they succumbed to their injuries. The personnel were identified as Santosh Laxman and Vijay Nand Nayak. They were both part of the BSF’s 121 Battalion.
