A Hollywood action thriller will provide scant competition to the big release of April 15.
Fan In Maneesh Sharma’s new meta-movie, Shah Rukh Khan plays superstar Aryan Khanna, whose most devoted fan is a man who looks a lot like him. Gaurav, played by Khan with prosthetic make-up, is Aryan’s most fanatic devotee, and his obsession soon turns violent. Written by Habib Faisal (Do Dooni Char, Ishaqzaade), the songless thriller promises a twist on the wellworn double role sub-genre as well as a return for Khan to the dark roles that characterised the early years of his career. The cast includes model Waluscha D’Souza, making her screen debut.
Before I Wake Jacob Tremblay, the child actor who was stunning in the spine-chilling abduction drama Room, returns in a horror film of a more literal kind. An adopted boy (Tremblay) has nightmares and dreams that manifest themselves physically, much to the horror of his parents (Thomas Jane and Kate Bosworth). Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Ouija 2) directs.
