The makers of the August 15 release Gold, starring Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy have released a new song from the soundtrack. Monobina, sung by Yasser Desai, Shashaa Tirupati, Monali Thakur and Farhad Bhiwandiwala, is set in a party in which Kumar’s character Tapan Das, a hockey coach, invites his wife (Roy) onto the dance floor. “Nacho na Monobina,” goes the refrain of the song composed by Tanishk Bagchi. A drunk Das hops on to the dance floor without any invitation and beckons his rather embarrassed wife to do the same.

Directed by Reema Kagti, Gold is a fictionalised retelling of the Indian field hockey team’s victory against Britain in the 1948 Summer Olympics. The match gave India its first Olympic gold medal after independence. Kagti’s film, set in the lead-up to this big match, frames the story from the perspective of Das, a hockey coach in India of the late 1940s.
