Three unidentified men hijacked a taxi in Punjab's Gurdaspur district on Saturday night after leaving the driver seriously injured, according to the police. The driver told the police there were passengers in his taxi, including women, when the car was attacked by the men. The attackers abandoned their own car (pictured above) one kilometre away from the spot where they hijacked the taxi, reported India Today.

"The incident took place at 10.30 pm when the attackers who came in a Tata Sumo vehicle attacked the driver Pradip Saini with hockey sticks at Ojla bypass area and snatched his white Swift car bearing No PB01A7651. The investigations are on," a police official said.

The police did not comment on the motive behind the hijacking, but intelligence agencies have already sounded an alert for a possible infiltration by Pakistan-based terror groups.
