In reply, DC finished with 156/3 (16.3)
In boxing parlance, was a knock-out #DCvsKKR
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) April 29, 2021
DC’s furious assault, led by Shaw’s stunning knock, puts KKR’s inadequacies in perspective. This was a plumb pitch. Par score would have been 180. KKR got 154, let down by the top order, leaving too little for the bowlers to defend

Delhi Capitals win by 7 wickets!
KKR made a below-par 154 and DC cruise home with 21 balls to spare thanks to a 132-run opening stand between Prithvi Shaw (82 off 41) and Shikhar Dhawan (46 off 47). Marcus Stoinis hits the winnings runs off Prasidh Krishna’s bowling.

After 15.5 overs, DC are 150/3: WICKET! Rishabh Pant wanted to finish the match with a six but he hits it straight to long-on. Pat Cummins has his third. DC need 5 off 25.
After 15.2 overs, DC are 146/2: WICKET! Pat Cummins has another one as Prithvi Shaw top-edges it. The right-hander departs for a sensational 82 off 41. He hit six fours in the first over and simply didn’t look back.
After 15 overs, DC are 146/1: Four and six! Prasidh Krishna was all over the place in that over and Rishabh Pant didn’t miss out. Delhi now need 9 off 30.
After 13.5 overs, DC are 132/1: WICKET! FINALLY a wicket for KKR as Pat Cummins traps Shikhar Dhawan LBW. Dhawan walks back for 46 off 47 after sharing a brilliant opening stand with Prithvi Shaw.

After 13 overs, DC are 123/0: SIX! It was dropped short and Shaw pulled it all the way in a flash. After getting out for a first-ball duck, Narine finishes with figures of 0/36.
After 12 overs, DC are 113/0: Shot! Varun bowls it quick and wide and Dhawan chops it through backward point and short-third for four. Nine easy runs in that over for Delhi.

KKR - 4
SRH - 3
CSK - 2
All other oppositions - 0#DCvKKR
After 11 overs, DC are 104/0: Narine drops it short and Shaw pulls it comfortably for four. The KKR players’ shoulders have well and truly dropped. Delhi need 51 off 54.

After 10 overs, DC are 95/0: Shaw survives, twice! First Gill jumps high at long-off and gets his fingers to the ball but it goes through for six. Then Shaw lifts it again and the ball falls just short of long-on. It’s just his day!
After 9 overs, DC are 84/0: Sunil Narine concede 14 runs in his first over but he mixes it up nicely to give away just three singles in his second. Delhi Capitals need 71 off 66.
Just 18 balls for his 50. Has made it easier for everyone else. In absolutely cracking form @PrithviShaw. Look forward to more.

After 8 overs, DC are 81/0: Shot! Cummins pitches it in the slot and Shaw drives it over mid-off with ease for four. There’s no stopping him at the moment.
FIFTY for Prithvi Shaw off just 18 balls! This is his 9th IPL half-century and the fastest by any player this season. The right-hander has hit 9 fours and a six so far to put Delhi Capitals in cruise control.
After 7 overs, DC are 71/0: Good over by Varun, just four from it. Delhi won’t be bothered, though. The only way KKR can make a match of this is if they pick a bunch of wickets soon.
There have only been four matches in Delhi Capitals' history in which they've scored more Powerplay runs than this. #IPL2021
— The CricViz Analyst (@cricvizanalyst) April 29, 2021
After 6 overs, DC are 67/0: Pat Cummins finally joins the attack and does really well to concede just a single in his first over. But that’s the end of a scintillating powerplay for Delhi Capitals. Prithvi Shaw (48 off 16) and Shikhar Dhawan (17 off 20) have played some classy strokes and DC now need 88 off 84 with 10 wickets in hand.
Couldn't have seen a more contrasting start than this one. #DCvsKKR. And a more contrasting day for Shivam Mavi!

DC innings: 10 fours in 4.1 overs #IPL2021
After 5 overs, DC are 66/0: A four each for Dhawan and Shaw in that Prasidh over. KKR have no answers at the moment. This is strokeplay of the highest quality.
After 4 overs, DC are 57/0: Shaw is making it look so, so easy. A six and a four for the right-hander off Sunil Narine’s bowling, both shots over extra cover. DC are in cruise control!

After 3 overs, DC are 43/0: Shikhar Dhawan gets going too with a stylish four. Prasidh Krishna concedes eight runs in his first over. Just three overs in and the equation looks quite comfortable for Delhi. They need 112 off 102.

— Ashish Magotra (@clutchplay) April 29, 2021
After 2 overs, DC 35/0: KKR had a very tepid start to their innings. DC, in sharp contrast, aren’t holding back at all. Shaw is timing the ball well and picking the gaps too. Another four for the right-hander in the Chakravarthy over.
Shivam Mavi has bowled the third most expensive opening over in IPL history. Only Abu Nechim (27 in 2011) and Harbhajan Singh (26 in 2013) have conceded more runs from the first over of the innings. #IPL2021

Mavi vs PBKS: 4-0-13-1
— Johns. (@CricCrazyJohns) April 29, 2021
Mavi vs Shaw: 1-0-25-0
After 1 over, DC 25/0: What a first over!! Wd-4-4-4-4-4-4. Mavi started off with a wide and then Shaw slammed fours off the next six balls. Crazy ball striking... fours to all parts of the ground. The DC opener doesn’t like to hold back and that makes him so dangerous in a smallish chase. But why would KKR start with Mavi when they have Cummins playing too?
KKR players taking the field. There is something in the pitch for spinners but KKR need early wickets.
Dot ball % in itself won't be a problem if the boundary hitting % is high enough but PBKS and KKR on top of this list should make their respective opening batsmen have a rethink, surely. #IPL2021 pic.twitter.com/TDKncvmcpP

Andre Russell run rate this innings:

Balls 0-10 - 2.40
Balls 11-20 - 10.80
Balls 21-27 - 19.71#IPL2021
KKR finish with 154/6
Andre Russell took his time to get going but some big hits towards the end have taken KKR to a decent total. Delhi Capitals, though, were impressive with the ball and will fancy chasing down this total.
After 19 overs, KKR are 141/6: Russell goes big! That was just the over KKR needed. DreRuss goes after Rabada and picks up two sixes and a four.
After 18 overs, KKR are 123/6: Avesh concedes four leg byes before Russell crunches one past cover for another boundary. Kolkata need a lot more of these.
After 16.2 overs, KKR are 109/6: WICKET! Dinesh Karthik is out LBW to Axar Patel for 14 off 10. He went for a reverse sweep but the ball skid on. KKR need something special from Andre Russell and Pat Cummins now.

After 16 overs, KKR are 105/5: SIX! Russell finally connects and the ball sails over long-on. But Ishant does well to concede just four of the other five balls.
After 15 bovers, KKR are 95/5: SIX! Dinesh Karthik gets going with a superb sweep off Axar Patel. Kolkata don’t have wickets in hand but they even need to go hard now.

13 balls
8 runs
2 wickets#IPL2021
After 14 overs, KKR are 86/5: Andre Russell is swinging hard but struggling to connect. He gets to 5 off 11 as Rabada completes another solid over for Delhi.
After 13 overs, KKR are 82/5: WICKET! Shubman Gill is dismissed by Avesh Khan for 43 off 38. This is the highest score of the season so far for Gill but his strike-rate didn’t help KKR much. Meanwhile, Avesh is bowling another fine spell for DC as Steve Smith takes his second catch of the night.
Very impressed with Lalit Yadav. Livewire in the field, more than handy off-spinner and can hit a long ball. We will, or should, hear a lot of him.
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) April 29, 2021
After 12 overs, KKR are 78/4: Superb over from Rabada, just three off it. Kolkata have Gill and Russell at the crease now. They really need to hit a flurry of boundaries.
Wish you a very Happy Birthday, @Russell12A 💙

Sunil Narine's last four balls faced from spinners in IPL cricket (most recent first):

WW•W#IPL2021
After 10.4 overs, KKR are 75/3: WICKET! Lalit Yadav gets two in one over! Now Sunil Narine is clean bowled for a golden duck. Delhi Capitals are on top!
After 10.2 overs, KKR are 74/3: WICKET! Captain Eoin Morgan is out for a two-ball duck! Lalit Yadav gets his first as Steve Smith takes a fine catch at long-off. KKR are in a spot of bother now. Sunil Narine is the new batsman.
Stoinis has the last laugh, but it was understandable that Tripathi targeted him. Before today, he had scored 32 runs from the ten balls he'd faced against the Australian. #IPL2021
— The CricViz Analyst (@cricvizanalyst) April 29, 2021
After 9.3 overs, KKR are 69/2: WICKET! Four & out! Rahul Tripathi was struggling to get going and he hits one straight to deep extra cover. Marcus Stoinis gets Delhi Capitals their second wicket. Tripathi walks back for 19 off 17 as Eoin Morgan comes to the crease.
After 9 overs, KKR are 65/1: Another decent over by Lalit, seven from it. Kolkata have a number of big hitters in the dugout and have a good platform now to kick-on.

After 8 overs, KKR are 58/1: SIX! Axar does well to concede just three off the first five balls but Gill sweeps the last ball for a maximum. The right-hander is timing the ball really well.
After 7 overs, KKR are 49/1: Off-spinner Lalit Yadav joins the attack and concedes just four singles in his first over. Kolkata would want to up the ante soon.

How would you rate this lightning-fast stumping from @RishabhPant17? ⚡#YehHaiNayiDilli #IPL2021 #DCvKKR pic.twitter.com/GhELxtrU20
After 6 overs, KKR are 45/1: Good finish to the powerplay for Gill as he picks up two fours in that Ishant over. The first one was driven past mid-off and the next one just about went over a diving Rabada running back mid-on.
After 5 overs, KKR are 32/1: Rahul Tripathi gets going with a confident drive past cover for four. Avesh concedes seven runs in his first over.
No Nortje, no Woakes, no Ashwin, no Mishra and @DelhiCapitals still have four quality bowlers in the power play. Have to commend their auction picks
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) April 29, 2021
After 3.4 overs, KKR are 25/1: WICKET! Six & out! Nitish Rana with a superb reverse-sweep for six but Axar Patel responds brilliantly by getting the left-hander stumped off the next ball. Rahul Tripathi is the new batsman.
After 3 overs, KKR are 18/0: Shot! Gill steps out to Ishant and slaps it straight back for four. That will boost his confidence. Delhi, though, are doing well to not let Kolkata get a flying start.
After 2 overs, KKR are 10/0: First four for Kolkata as Rana pulls one through the vacant mid-wicket region. Six runs come from Rabada’s first over.
Against top six batsmen in this IPL, Kagiso Rabada is conceding runs at 9.10 runs per over and is averaging 44. He's never previously got at more than 9rpo or had an average about 30 in an IPL season. #IPL2021

After 1 over, KKR are 4/0: Another accurate start by Ishant, four singles and two dot balls in that first over. This is an important innings for young Gill. He hasn’t fired in the tournament yet and will be keen to get some runs under his belt tonight.
7.30 pm: Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana are at the crease for KKR. Ishant Sharma has the new ball for Delhi. Here we go!
